EX-
Of course, you are right!  I can't identify quite the same as I am not a man, but if left with kids and the emotional parting, it couldn't be easy.

Tiger-
My husband and I "escaped" the VietNam was and I may be selfish, but I am glad my only son, who is 24, doesn't have Army fever.  He's had plenty of friends who have gone and come back with nothing good to say (and they were very gung-ho.) I have a friend with a son and a son-in-law there now and I'd be as skitterish as a long tailed cat in a room full of rockers, but she's very stoic. Hats off!

Seedlings -
Thanks, my dear, for reminding me that war affects both sexes! YES, tears for anyone "remembering what your body felt lying next to me."

Do not forget men see their wives go too.

Amen!!!!!
I have seen my two sister in laws all by themselves while their husbands have been off in the middle east (one was a marine, the other is stil an army reservist), and these women deserve all the credit in the world for the struggles they have to go through!!!!!!!

And I shall not excuse myself either to shed my tears. Loving our men and the chance of loosing them war time or not is more than heart wrenching. I wish the same for the world, 'PEACE' for all the world, womankind and mankind alike.
