Kabu, Do What the hell I tell you!
Fight fire with fire. You are entitled to whatever assets he may have. This would include retirement benefits and any form of social security benefits Australia might offer. Tell him that you did not have the opportunity to provide for retirement and that you would like to have a portion of his to put you on equal footing. Had he not have been such a "Richard", you might have been able to provide for your own retirement benefits or you would have been able to make them better. You must prove that his earnings potential was better than yours at the time of your marriage.

I had a little money for the very shortest time

The useless ex now wants it every little dime

The lawyers fight and argue and I'm feeling awful blue

Tell me sweetie darlin just what I should do?
