I am sure your daughter will love your gifts.  Even when children are away they appreciate our thinking of them.  Thank you for your kind words.

We lived in Ohio for twenty years and loved it.    It is so fun when loved ones can return home for a visit.  This year, one of my daughters is in Taiwan and can't get home--no Christmas holiday there-- so we're sening lots of little presents for her to open all December. Enjoy your homecoming.

thanks for sharing. I'm doing a bit of what your mother does - stocking up on what he likes - coke, chips, biscuits called hide and seek.  The cook is thrilled as he can make the chicken and mutton curries and carrot halwa.  I will do khaw suey - the Burmese dish.

It must have been an emotional time for you on his return.  It is good you will have your son around you over the Christmas period, as it's such a family occassion, also with all the eating that goes on over Christmas, he's sure to put on a few more pounds (smile).  Take Care.

Bless

You should see my mum when my brother comes for a holiday: she has a permanant grin from ear to ear as she gets the house ready and shops for food he likes or can't get in the UK. It is these 6 weeks that make the long absence bearable, and i think that you too will find ways to make the most of your son's stay. Have fun!

Yes it is.  Also sometimes a nagging feeling that should I be doing something more?  I know that it is all socialisation, but the kind of closeness I want to have the distance makes difficult.  But, it makes me think about and appreciate what my parents must have gone through.

No matter how old they are ...
... they'll always be our babies.
