The NRA
gives too much money to too many cowardly politicians and that's what keeps reasonable gun laws from being enacted.

Growler.......Please don't misunderstand me!
I have never meant to imply that just because person A had a gun, person B should have one also.  The point I was trying to make is that since guns have already infiltrated society, any attempt for the government to reclaim them is only going to be successful amongst the people who own them legally and responsibly.  Many city departments have had gun buy back programs, and what you had happen was old little Mrs. Smith was turning over an antique that her deceased husband left behind, that she could have sold to a collector for 10x what the police paid her for it.  The criminals own them illegaly in most cases, so the last thing they are going to do is hand them over to the police.  I just never want to see us in a situation where the only people who own weapons are criminals.  I firmly believe that what I said in my last comment about education being the key is the only hope we have at changing the hearts and minds of people.  People are the problem......not the weapons.  Take away the guns, and the amount of stabbings would increase 30x.....take away the knives and the number of beatings will increase by 30x.  You can't outlaw baseball bats......see what I mean?

Like I said.  You handle it your way, I'll handle it mine.  The main thing is that you can't quit trying. I'm not a hunter, but I don't mind people doing it.  So I'm not for all guns being taken, I just wish that it was harder to get them.  But you can't just say, well he has a gun so I have to get one too.

I'm glad we had this conversation.  The only way to get to the heart of such matters is with open discussion.  We all learn something and get a better understanding of one another when we do.  I may not agree with what you say, but I will always defend your right to say it.

Agree and Respectfully Disagree
I applaud you on preaching education.......because that my friend is the only thing that will change people, and then there will still be some criminal minded fools out there.  The problem I have with your gun theory is that any effort to take guns from people is only going to result in law abiding citizens losing their guns.  Thats not acceptable.  Taking guns is not going to change the behavior or the minds of criminals.  Education will however, so preach to and educate everyone you can, just leave our guns alone!

It's Called No Fear!
You know what you'll have then!  TWO dead people instead of one.  I am not naive enough to believe that criminals will turn in their guns.  But let's ask this?  What makes them criminals?  Are they born that way?  Society makes you what you are.  Your upbringng makes you what you are.  I will not succumb to violence, because everyone else does.  If that makes us different, so be it.  We too often look for the easy way of doing things instead of the RIGHT way of doing things.  I believe in the right way.  And if I die that way so be it.  It's called being a man.  It's called being responsible.  And I will preach this to everyone I know.  If you don't have education, then you will have ESCALATION!  Our ability to communicate is what separates us from the animal.  But sad to say, we are becoming more and more animalistic every day.  You handle it your way, I'll handle it mine.

I'll tell you whats Bullshit!
Whats Bullshit is you must not have read my response.  of course I read your blog, and problem with your philosophy is that you trust all the criminals to give up their guns like you suggest.  No way in hell that will happen......THATS WHAT MAKES THEM CRIMINALS!  They already have no respect for the law.  When they know everyone else is harmless......we are all screwed.  Not me......they can take my gun from my cold dead hands!  That makes me a free citizen exercising my 2nd ammendment right.   Not an idiot who thinks criminals are going to turn into nice guys all of the sudden.  Thats not only Bullshit....thats naive!

Bullshit!  Did you read my blog?  I told you I have been around the shit for years and I still don't own a gun. Call me nuts.  I don't care.  Two wrongs don't make a right, laws or no laws.  What you are talking about is escalation.  And escalation always leads to disaster.  What you say does not make you a revolutionary.  Revolutionaries look for ways to solve problems, not create more problems.  Have you ever heard of MADD?  Remember how they got pissed about drunk drivers killing people and acted? Law enforcement has been tougher on it ever since.  THAT'S revolutionary.

I feel your pain, but you're nuts!
Blaming guns for the deaths of people, is like blaming the pencil for spelling mistakes, or blaming the checkbook ledger for not having any money in the bank!  The only way you will ever stop gun violence is to change the people who commit such crimes.  you can pass all the laws you want and take all the guns of the streets you can find, but the criminals who want the guns will find a way to get them.  The last thing I want is for all the damn criminals running the streets with guns, and law abiding citizens looking at their gun cabinets empty!  Be honest here please.  Guns arent the problem........Dumb ass criminals are!
