BB and ginnieb, I'm as confused about
his lifestyle as you. It must be just how his
brain is wired. He feels trapped inside.
It makes me sad but we can't help him.

Whoa...that's sad. Is there a psychological reason that he lives his life this way? It doesn't sound like he's a happy wanderer.
