Re: Re: Awareness

FYS, I think you & your family, as well as many of the readers / writers here, will relate to Monica's book..one of the characters, Patrick, is a Vietnam veteran..it is touching how he & his Indian wife meet, communicate & fall in love, when both America & India were experiencing wars (America in Vietnam, and India with China & later Pakistan)..perhaps you too might write something that will bring many hearts in unison, as it's already happening here ! - Very best, Ash

Moving post, FYS..Wishes for another safe return of your brother
According to recent news sources, we will be there for a very long time..shouldn't be surprising, I guess, with permanent bases installed and the world's largest, most expensive embassy to protect, but I am very disappointed with our elected officials - all of them - to put it mildly. The only real winner of this war is the corporate sector; also an item in mainstream media lately..too tragically familiar.

I think we are there for the long term too...Just like S. Korea...I am thankful for people like yours...I will keep you and yours in my prayers...

War

I couldn't help post another poem of mine on this dreadful subject. Hope some of us can help raise the awareness of the long-drawn plight of families like yours'.

Very best, Ash

Peace indeed....I am glad your estimate jives with what i have suspected, but never heard from anyone I respect: two more presidents will stay in Iraq to complete the terms of this invasive agenda. Shalom is needed, especially for the inncoents

Awareness

Speaking of which, have you considered publishing an article on your family's trials and tribulations in a local / national newspaper ? My daughter recently published a book titled "Hindi-Bindi Club" that raises the awareness of the life journeys of first & second generation American families such as mine, and is becoming an international bestseller. You can get more info on her website http://www.monicapradhan.com. Best wishes to you & your family for your noble endeavors. Sincerely, Ash Pradhan

callista, thank you..it means alot!
That would translate to far too many lives.  I think of some of the young men and women that have served in Iraq thus far--how many are close to me.  My friends children; my nephews; my brother...and how long this war has been going on.  It really puts things in perspective.  Or at least it should.

you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers till your brother is
home safely with his family.  Sure hope you are wrong about the 20-30 years, how many young lives does that translate to.

War

War is never the answer. Love is. But men who rule countries are not men who know what love is among there fellow man. It's all about power and money.

It's sad but it's true. I hope you're not right about that 20-30 years of war, but you just might be.

Bless you for being a kind heart. Maybe with enough people waking up, we can change the course of the future. Who knows? Without hope, what else is left?

Re:

Thank you Angesom for seeing what I'm trying to do here.  There is no BLACK and WHITE when it comes to this issue.  I cannot support the actions of my nation's military, but I can still love the soldiers and pray for their safety.

I believe that we are not over in Iraq to stop terrorism; we are there to establish a military presence in the Middle East.  This occupation is dangerous to our American way of life. I do not believe for one second that our government desires preservation of our way of life. We will see a great change to our way of life in the near future, but that's a topic for another day.
