- Go to Target: bloggers who have superior moral values
You can decide that for yourself - Dknowles -
On this forum people only need to read others to work out if someone is ripe for persuasion. I think there are a lot of attempts at persuasion here which indicate that people have done little market research. They should consider highly targeted marketing. Some of the blogs I write are written for one segment of the market. By and large I have figured who that audience is. I am not going to water something down to suit others.

Were you refering to me when you talked about charismatic and enteraining?
I think I love you.
If that post really was aimed at me then I would say that the rule of the day is "Caveat Emptor." The whole point of having an opinion is to try to persuade others to accept your point of view and to marginalize the opposing opinion. I find this kind of behavior acceptable if my intelligence isn't insulted and the other person has done at least some homework. On the other hand, if the other person (opinion) does insult my intelligence and they don't have a clue, I'm probably going to get a little testy.

People tend to fall in love with their own ideas.
I don't mind their trying to convince me to agree, but I hate for them to call me names and ridicule my opinions and beliefs when I don't agree. When people become angry and abusive in debate, sometimes resorting to name-calling, they're admitting that their argument can't stand up to close scrutiny. I tire quickly of people riding a moral high-horse.

Inkling - That'[s correct. I did say that bloggers should blog about what they feel like
and I am exercising that right.

Yes dknowles.
It is often the case that the most charismatic and entertaining speaker will convince an audience to jump through rings of fire

I might find it tiresome when people try to change me but I can't blame them for trying
and yes I like to be persuaded or informed by powerful writing

Hi, BB. Happy You Responded To My Comment. Actually, I Agree With The Point
you made in the post. It is just that it cuts both ways.
Not only are there a number of people on the network who are attempting to "impose their moral beliefs" on others, there are quite a few who are attempting to impose their "beliefs" in a wide range of other areas on us.
And, when you think about it, that is what much of writing is all about: The objective of many, if not most, written pieces is to sway people's views and opinions, or to get them to accept or reject something.

Hi MHW - had missed you recently
Anybody here can preach about whatever they like and I will read them because I am interested in all perspectives, whether I agree with them or am trying to understand a different point of view.
As for sinning - one man's everyday actions are another's sins.
What I find tiresome, but again I am not in a lather about this, are the people who keeping assuming and saying that me and others like me will come around to their view.

Beachbelle, I drink liquor, I smoke dope, I fornicate…in fact, if it’s “bad,”
I probably do it -- or, at the very least, have done it. And this not the first time that I have made such an admission on BN.
However, the big difference between me and a great many other “sinners” is that I always admit that I am a “sinner.” I do not ever try to justify my “immoral behavior,” nor do I ever say words to the effect that all of the “wicked shit” I do, and have done, is just fine.
What I am driving at is, just as it is OK for contributors to the network to submit posts that essentially promote such things as homosexuality, sex-outside-of-marriage and having multiple sex partners -- it is OK for contributors to submit posts in which they "moralize" or express the kinds of behavior they consider to be "wrong," "sinful" or "immoral."
And that brings a question to mind: Are you opposed to those bloggers who are constantly PREACHING that the war in Iraq is "immoral," homosexuality is natural and normal behavior, and The Holy Bible is nothing but a collection of fables and fairy tales?

I admit it, I smoked marijuana.
And inhaled.
But I do want to take a small stand here about the expression of opinion. I believe that any expression of opinion should allow for the inclusion of damning another probably opposite opinion. Tell them you don't think they're right. Tell them you think they're morally bankrupt. Tell them they're full of it. If you're not going to get in a fight, why get into the ring? I'm a member of Writing.com (http://www.writing.com its cool but not as much fun as BN) and often review and rate other authors writing. One young man had a very strong opinion about the death penalty. My criticism of him wasn't his opinion but was instead a criticism of his use of moderation, logic and statistics in what is without doubt a very emotional issue. In my mind, that's what the phrase "fish or cut bait" really means. It doesn't mean that an opinion should necessarily cause a fight, but it does mean that you should not pull your punches.
PS What T-shirt? I didn't get a T-shirt. Damn

Why not let the clicks speak for themselves instead of telling other bloggers what the rest of the BN wants to hear or doesn't want to hear? And weren't you the same one who said that bloggers should blog about whatever they feel like? Oh, that's right...if you didn't blog about the specks in other people's eyes, you'd be practically blogless...but not logless...
