thank you jim for your reflections and analysis - it's stimulating to read
the fixidness of words really emphasises their precariousness when they're not quite right and identity itself is threatened - and then there's all that naming stuff in genesis isn't there, naming and being entwined - how naming differentiates the 'life' or independent existence of a thing - another form of constancy in a changing world (we are named at birth, and it is chiselled into our tombstone) - it's great with poetry how one can have so much fun with so few words

forgot to begin at beginning (for me)
"navity" is self-expressive, and contains its possibility, as if there were to be a language without being born. Since language is its own necessity, it's after the fact of noticement...as if to be were to speak. So, is there a choise not to grapple with this hiatus? Maybe there's no beginning except where it starts, but that's where the poem begins its possibility of language through time--which can seem be infinite, which doesn't seem such a good idea after a while. So, you closed the window and hit my funny bone.

LOL
And liked how you connected it with last line of disconnection, which is the only one that might make sense. Somehow, for me, it's a mirror of progession thru non vowel sounds (which thru your recent poems you might be experimenting with). I like it because it's personal to me. I still remember at 5 repeating the word, "egg" until the word lost its concept, which seemed to inform me that language is as arbitrary as it is necessary. Thanx for reminding me there is another languge, if only there were world for it.
