I will agree that the Bible is historically accurate. It is as historically accurate as Tom Sawyer, any mythology and The Indian Jones movies. All have accurate history in them, but the sum of the stories have been made up. I have never claimed that Jesus wasn't a real person. I just don't think he was any thing more than a guy who started up a religion by teaching what he believed. There is proof out there that King Arthur was a real person, but I don't think he did all of what the legends say he did. Also there are many differing stories of King Arthur, just like there are differing versions of the Bible and its offspring.

actually,

the Bible has been proven time and time again to be an historically accurate authority, even by those who don't believe in God. To say "It's in the Bible" is not necessarily a cop-out. I can give you examples of how the Bible has been proven to be accurate and authoritative.  The Bible is not a "storybook" in that it gives fictional information. Also, I've heard the argument before that the Bible has been "translated by who knows how many people, how many times".  However, historical documentation will reveal how meticulous the scribes of King James were in their translation of the Greek.  Scholars then were intelligent enough to know how to translate a text from Greek, and they are just as intelligent now.  Over the last 400 years, if there had been any gross mistakes in King James' translation, they would have been found by unbelievers and revealed as false information just to shut up those pesky Christians. Bible scholars are not always Christians.

And as for "blind faith" -- "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."  - Heb. 11:1
