Tucumcari could've given the circus a permit on the condition their merchants could have concessions. I myself like quiet suburban towns, but good luck. Ha!

The last time I was in Tucumcari it was just as you described (and no circus in town). The only thing that I can add is that we ate some decent sopapillas in a tiny cafe.
