They'll tie it up in appeals for years, barbiej. But, yeah, sometimes
the juries and judges deem it fit to allow for certain damages.  And if anybody deserves to get hit with this kind of fine, fee, or sanction, its the Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas...

church of...
Maybe I should have made my worker's comp claim into a religious argument...i can't even get paid for a permanent injury...let alone emotional stress and hardship.  Do Americans really get that kinda money?

Wouldn't stop them, draco. They're holier than thou, and that means you
and your ass whoopings.  Still, the thought is tempting, huh?

That is why, TAPS, I follow no one...

Saul_relative
It seems that any group can call itself a church and anyone can call themselves a minister/pastor.  One must be discerning of who and what they follow for their own well-being.

What do you mean, "No one remembers Oliver Cromwell?" Does no one
pay attention in history class anymore?  Hmmmmm.  Okay.  Say it's true.  Maybe we can hope for the same with Madonna...

Now you're just trying to scare me, Saul.
No one remembers Oliver Cromwell, but we're stuck with "Like A Virgin" for all eternity?  What hell could be worse?

Not even death will silence Madonna, Zena. She is part of history now,
like it or not.  In the future, she'll be seen much as we see Mae West today.  As disgusted as I am by that thought, just think how disgusted so many people were of Mae West and her antics while she was alive...

Saul, they can appeal, but you're right, the money on lawsuits
will cut into their budgets. Let's hope so.  Loved your list of horrors spawned by Christianity.  I agree, Madonna is right up there with Oliver Cromwell on the list of historical horrors, lol.  Will we never hear the end of her?

Some might even say "punitive", SoulBuilder. But groups like these
religious morons need to be sent a message where it hurts the most -- the bank account.  You can't be traveling all over the country disrupting funerals and burials if you have no money to travel...

Oh, they're not going to shut up, Antonionioni. They were right in that
they have the right to free speech and to practice their religion.  What they do not have is the right to force their beliefs and cause a public disturbance or nuisance while they practice their First Amendment rights....

You haven't been reading the wrong book, Justi. The Christian bible has
spawned many sickening followers and practices over the years: the Inquisition, Oliver Cromwell, burnings at the stake, the Salem Witch Trials, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, Oral Roberts, Madonna, Warren Jeffs, etc., etc.   It comes down to interpretation.  Anything written can be interpreted various ways, dependent upon the beholder and their experiential knowledge.  These fundamentalist morons from Kansas are just more hate-filled than most, Justi.

Glad to hear that these people lost their case.
Let's just hope there aren't endless appeals. They should pay up and shut up.

These are the sickest of the sick.
If they are Christian I have been reading the wrong book for years and years. These are the most despicable people on the planet.

I totally agree, Zena. I've always called them the "protest too much"
crowd.  They include homophobes, preachers, and politicians (notice the latter two showing up in droves on the news lately?)

Saul, good for that judge for giving them what they deserved.

Millions in compensatory, punitive, and emotional distress damages.  I guess he was pretty pissed.

I can't imagine anything more crass and insensitive than protesting at a soldier's funeral.  For God's sake, they've been through enough.

It is a point I've often wondered myself, why gays bring down the wrath of God more than anyone else.  Personally, I think it's because of the closeted self-hating gays in the church. Nobody hates gays like a closeted one.
