I used to work for the CIA; Valerie Plame was my partner. I'm waiting on
Robert Novak to "out" me so I can lead a normal life, become a pundit or something.

Okay, buddy...
Why, after all this time, is there STILL no about me... about you? Fess up. :)

Perhaps the sentence should include
burning up all of their possessions, their home and the plantlife on their property so they can _possibly_ get a feel for what they are doing to others. I picture just a charred rectangle of land to call home. Of course that won't work if they live with anyone else or in an apartment...maybe just "relocate" them to a tent pitched in one of those post-fire areas. Just throwing out some ideas here...

The sad thing is, Temple, that I don't believe that those people
setting fires purposely really CARE about the pain, suffering, and loss -- unless as some form of abstract turn-on.  Inhuman pieces of crap is what the are...

Actually, Saul, they are convinced of two areas being arson...
But they weren't the big fires, although homes were lost.  So far no lives lost can be contributed to these arsonists, and one area that investigators are convinced is arson they have not made arrests for.  The fire chief in Orange County, one of the points of investigation, said what made him the most angry is that these smaller fires took resources away from the large fires that did wipe out so many more homes and did take lives in San Diego county.  Did you know that there was one man arrested twice for two investigations?  And the people setting fires along the way were an adult and a juvenile?  Special, special people.  They have NO idea the amount of pain, grief and loss they cause all of us here.  Good thing for us San Diego is such a loving, unified community.

Well, technically, tigerprincess, if they didn't do it knowingly and
willingly, it isn't arson.  It's an accident.  Arson is a criminal activity.  That's why those original three flashpoints are still being investigated to determine whether there was  intentional criminal activity or negligence...

God Bless California!!
I can't fathom how an arsonist could willingly and knowingly cause such a horrific act.

I wasn't so appalled (because these could be acts of negligence -- they
really haven't been able to determine) by the possibility of arson here, FYS.  I was, however, quite outraged by those senseless asses setting fires after these huge conflagrations had already destroyed so much...

I was also appalled at the news that these fires were acts of arson.

California Wildfires Or California Arson?
Saul_Relative: These arsonists are just as bad as people who own these local hardware stores after a hurricane or tornado and gouge the residents.  They deserve the death penalty or life in prison without a chance for parole or probation.  Also require them tp pay restitution for their damages.  They deserve no mercy from the judicial system.

There are a myriad reasons why, Naut, people will set fires. Political
or religious reasons may be the sickest (delusion is another form of sickness altogether).  People who wish to make a statement need to learn how to engage in proper forms of discourse.

Saul
I suspect at least some of those fires were deliberately set. It wouldn't be the first time. And I don't think it was done by people who are 'pyromaniacs' in the classical sense, but rather by some for whom it was an act of 'revenge' for whatever they feel the world has done to them. For some it might be a way to make a 'statement'. And my fear is that there may be those to whom it might occur that setting fires might be a good terror weapon...

The media is just a facilitator, a trigger. It isn't the cause of these
acts of violence against nature.  No, the motives come from within these sad people...

Nothing stupid about good husbandry and stewardship, spinner.
Different doesn't make one stupid, either.  Staying ignorant makes one stupid.  The red man, my ancestors, for the most part did not get a chance to become stupid before most of them were killed...

its like anything else the media glorifies the tragedy and the idiots get off on starting fires that people will hear about on the news and read in the newspaper

there was a time in this country when The red man took care of things they welcomed fire and flood. what you got to ask yourself is this. were they as stupid as some might have you to believe. / spinner

Yeah, they're going to have to bring Smokey back, Cypress. Maybe they
can get the guy who directed Saw to do the commercials.  Show some really traumatic, gory scenes, then end it with a caption like:  That's what Smokey wants to do to you for being careless; but we'll save you by hiding you from him.  And then have a prison door slamming shut with a really loud clang.

What ever happened to the "Smokey the Bear" campaign? Let's turn these people loose with Smokey! I was in Calif. two weeks ago (Carmel ). I'm glad I left before things got hot.

Some people just have the wrong sense of humour. Endangering properties and lives is no joke and not funny. Send them right into the fire fighting action and let them feel the fear of fire and smoke. That will teach them something. Sending them to prison only let them enjoy meals paid for by taxpayers.katzs

Saul relative
Can you really believe anybody is that low but yes they are. I thought the ability to determine the cause of such massive fires was astounding. I am thankful they can learn that and hope they can catch them. Good post.
