Whether Bush said or meant to say anything regarding Cuba is not really important. We have not had normalized relations with Cuba for the last 50 years. I don't blame our President, I don't blame anyone except Castro himself for their isolation. That said I must also say I have long since gotten over the Bay of Pigs (although I shall never forget it)....

All the presidents should have realized a long time ago that it was in America's interest to have a relationship with Cuba. They are 90 miles off our shores...

Since it is close to the end of life for Castro I believe Cuba will then have a chance to regain some respect in the world. Hanging around with H. Charves(spelling) doesn't garner any points with most Americans...

When I was a little girl I feared Cuba. When I became a mature woman I wanted to visit Cuba. On my 50th birthday I was finally able to do so.......from a distance..

Re: white_elephant
That's why I'll stay on the fence to see how this pans out. Thanks.

Re: cunninglinguist
Thanks a lot.  Yea it could be his way of fixing things so that he not be the worst president in the history of the U.S, fulfilling the promise he made to Cubans during his first election campaign.

I don't trust politicians anymore .... and I think you always have to hear both sides of the story to decide on what's right or wrong! ~ only the people living in Cuba can shed a light on this.

Didn't watch it - but you know how I feel about Castro, and "people" like him...

I agree with Richin.   My take is this: Florida won him the first elections, Cuban-Americans make up a large sector of registered voters in South Fla., the majority are Republicans,  and elections are right around the corner.  Bush needs to redeem himself and recruit votes for the Party after the mess he's made.

Your posts are thought provoking... I look forward to reading them.    Melody
