Sorry Saul, I almost missed you... I'm sorta all over the place.
The uncertainty is always the worst.  I was in an earthquake, the Northridge earthquake out here by L.A. in 1994 and my apartment was condemned.  I lost a lot of stuff, but got things out.  I almost preferred that, much to my surprise, because the waiting and wondering is so agonizing... then again I don't want to not have the opportunity not to get my most precious things and protect my animals.  I vote no more natural disasters!  Do I hear a second?  lol..  Take care, Saul. :)

Katray! Woman, stop changing your name, I keep losing you...lol...
Yes, the images are so frightening indeed... and to see them and see the smoke coming over the ridge and know the monster was just 7 or 8 or 10 miles a way, it was more than I could take for a while.  It's not over at all for some, but for us, we can rest a bit easier.  We still need to be alert, and Camp Pendleton is on fire, so Eddie has to do firewatch (that's their name for guard normally, this time it's literally) for a while with other Marines ... but they keep closing the freeways going up there.  No one from here could even get on base today.  It's still fluid, but we are safer now.  Thanks for stopping in, your welcome always however "late." :)

Hi Mimi :)
Haven't seen you in so long.  I'm okay, I just posted an update... that was some mighty fine finger crossing. ;) Thanks for the thoughts.

Re: Kayzzaman
Um, not so much the same thing.  I appreciate the metaphor, but... kinda different.  Thanks.

Teddy, thanks so much for the thoughts and prayers...
I think we must have a strong force here at our little community.  It worked.

Late comment; just want to say I hope you and yours are safe, Temple
Must be so frightening and confusing; the images on the screen depict a nightmare. Take care; more positive thoughts sent.

I feel for you, Temple. Be strong. Hopefully, nothing will come of it, or
if the time comes and you must evacuate, you and your family will remain safe.  I went through a similar ordeal when I was very young.  I was scared, I admit...

My God, Temple...  all I can say is all of my fingers are crossed for you.  This is just so, so scary.

I agree. Get the hell out now.

TAPS, we live in an apartment, so at least we wouldn't lose a house...
But like I mentioned, my husband won't help me get stuff ready and doesn't want to evacuate -- or take Isaac -- and being on the the 3rd floor with a back injury it's hard to take things down on my own.  Not to mention we don't really have anywhere to go.  Fortunately, it looks like our area may be out of danger... fingers crossed.

Temple, What are you waiting for?
I would have been long gone already.  I hope that you all will be safe and that your house will be spared.

My friend, if you have not already, I am hoping you get out while you are
still able to do so...let go of the pc and get away...hope and prayers, my friend.   -Ted

Life is itself an endless fire.

Thinking of you . . .

yes, afzal, pray, pray indeed... for all of us out here...
The Witch fire just merged with another fire now creating a 200,000 acre blaze completely out of control in a canyon that firefighters cannot get to.  I hope there is something of my city left. Thank you for your prayers.  Pray it's not endless. :)

Let's pray for the safety of those facing this endless fire .

I've been trying to pack... it's so hard to think what to take.
Thanks Corbin for the reassurance. :)  My husband just thinks I'm an idiot and doesn't care about this stuff ... even though now the fires are burning towards housing on base where one of his friends lives.  Initially, that's where we would have evacuated to! Frankenkitty, I don't know where to go ... and likely I'd be on my own, which is hard for me because I don't have family here and everyone we know is evacuated somewhere -- I'd have to go to Qualcomm by myself, and that's creepy and intimidating.  Ariala, I know how you feel... this is my city beautiful and it's burning all around me. :(  It made me cry today when I realized the full gravity of it.  Thanks for the support everyone... no one around us is evacuating, and they aren't concerned about the shelter (Mira Mesa High School) about a mile down the street, so I think right now we are okay.  After tomorrow, we should be out of danger or out of here -- I will leave without Eddie if need be. Maybe I'll be brave and go to Qualcomm and trip that Kiran girl when she's on air..   Oh, that would make it worth it!  Then I could just watch Anderson Cooper walk around and smile. :)

7 miles is way too close!
Please get to a safe place.

Temple.....
you're not crazy....I just saw the post because of Ariala's comment......I understand the desire to say and protect what you have......but at least spend the time gathering up the posessions you consider most precious.....photos, momentos, important papers.  Have then ready to snatch up as you head out the door.......then pack clothing........

I know I couldn't sleep under those circumstances......

Temple, I was just wondering about you this morning and hoping all was well
Have you started packing?  Fill your car with stuff and get the heck out of there!  I am amazed that the two places I've wanted to visit (New Orleans and San Diego) are the two places that have had the worst devastation in recent history!

I must be tired and crazy... I'm the only one commenting on my posts!
Get Kiran Chetry out of here!  ACK!

CNN is here, everywhere.... making me crazy....
They are talking about all the fires, 1 million people evacuated, that's including Malibu fires and all those up by Los Angeles.  People are emailing me and calling now all freaked out.  The totals are for all California fires, all in southern fires.  But this is the largest civilian evacuation since the civil war... how crazy is that...  Just found out from Eddie's Sgt who called that the "controlled" burn, which is out now of control, jumped the 5 and now is heading towards his (Sgt. V's) housing unit.. and Eddie's area on Camp Pendleton is under evacuation -- you know when the Marines aren't going to work all week, the shit has hit the the fan.
