lustorlove, I've been through Cali fires for about 17 years...

But nothing like this.  It so huge and out here they just keep saying... we can't stop it.  1% containment... so scary.  I'm glad you are farther away, but I hear you about that ash and smoke, it's so awful. I have asthma and haven't been able to breathe well for two days.  It's just raining ashes outside, creepy. I had to worry about evacuations from Malibu fires a few times but this is so crazy... every five minutes new fires, new evacuations.  I just want to go to bed!  ..lol..

I am closer to the Malibu fire and some of the areas in Ventura County, the smoke was bad here on Sun even though its close to 50 miles and the ashes are all over the place.  Good ole Cali

power and internet are in and out, and the fire is 1% contained....

it seems the winds have shifted, but the mayor has said not to have a false sense of security ... and now it's burning Camp Pendleton, too... there are at least three more fires up north that way (northeast) and they will merge with the Witch fire by morning... the winds are up and we just don't know what will happen ... we don't have anywhere to evacuate to, since the hotels are full and I can't sleep outside at Qualcomm with asthma (it's only about 7 miles south and the air quality is very bad -- that's why the Chargers left) ... if we leave, we will most likely go to Coronado Naval Base (all the other shelters around us are full) -- but we heard there was a fire down there and the freeway may be closed...

... many are like us, can't go, can't stay... yet, we have not been asked to evacuate so we just keep hoping ... rather I keep hoping, my husband just acts like nothing is happening and leaves it all on my shoulders

... None of this fire is contained in any fashion, it's totally unpredictable, there are new fires continuing to crop up (now 10 just in San Diego county, up from two yesterday) and we've reached a half a million people evacuation...  I can't even comprehend it, yet people are still acting like nothing can happen to them ... two more windy days, then maybe I can get some sleep...  thanks for the love, I'm shaky and wished I had someone to share the load, but I'm okay for now ...

Temple,

You and your family were the first things I thought of when I woke up this morning.  Now the news says that things look NOT GOOD.  I pray that you all are safe and sound, and I'm so worried about you...  Please be safe, don't wait for the guys to get their shit together.  Gather them up and get outta there!  We'll be waiting to hear that you're safe for sure...

Temple, can you get

out?  Visit some relatives?  The smoke can't be healthy, you could pass out from lack of oxygen and then what?  Please leave the area if you can.  We don't stay in hurricanes with winds over 100 mph.  There's too many trees and our house isn't solid.  I'd say a hurricane of fire is way more dangerous!!  Take care lady

Ariala, it is really scary....

I've never been through anything like this before.  The idea of packing up and evacuating though is so overwhelming.  It's all around us, and any minute they could tell us to go.  I just want to go to sleep! lol... Nice to see you after so long. :)
