Humanity is a curious sort. They want to learn from the environment and they want to manipulate it in different ways. I noticed that manmade products in general are not necessarily good for us. Plastics, pharmaceuticals, microwaves, nuclear waste, manufactured food processed goods have had numerous studies on how detrimental they are to us as people, living organisms including animals and plants, and the environment.
I used to say technology is gonna make us or break us. Now, I say we need to get back to basics and learn to live in harmony with nature. The earth needs our healing more than ever. We each are stewards of our community and our habitats.

I really need to read more about it before I can say where I stand on this subject.

I don't think God can be 'bettered'! The results of genetic manipulation of plants, attest to this!

I like reading science fiction stories on cloning. Marge Piercy wrote one
years back titled "In His Image" which was interesting. It's one more thing in this world that would be reserved for the super rich, the egoists who want an exact copy of themselves. And, since nurture and experience has an impact on character formation, it's unreasonable to expect the double would actually be a 100% accurate clone. Also, IMO, it wouldn't give the original any measure of immortality, which seems to be a motivation to do it.
