Thank you for your thoughts and sharing your preferences.  My most favourite ghazal singer is Abida Parveen. She is strong, contemporary and fearless in her singing.

i like begum akhtar ....but i would call her more of thumri gharanas...isnt it??

i also favour ghulam ali n bade ghulam ali......the ultimate ghazal kings......

I have read you time and time again. Ghazals, I am very partial to. I usually go with Jagjit, though Pankhaj Udaas and others have me enthralled too. Mohammed Rafi was my first exposure. He was great. Nice to find someone who appreciates good music! The new gurs I don't know. Begum Akhtar I have listened to, though I fear she may have another name like Noorjehan! Thanks!
