You're a trooper I must say! Is it crazy, who knows? If you left small children at home, with less food than they needed until the bank balance was healthy again I would definitely say yes. It is only you, you have only your concerns to be concerned about. Have a safe trip and write to us about it.

Re: Doing something completely crazy
But that's the great thing about being old and full of life experience, one can follow one's whims, do crazy things and it doesn't matter. Besdies that, Lawrence Ferlinghetti is more than a poet. He is a publisher who had a profound influence on American literature through his courage in publishing things other publishers did not dare to. I am not greatly enamoured of Ginsberg or Kerouac but because Ferlinghetti published them people can read their work and make up their own minds.

You ask me whether you are crazy or not. I think you are! Travelling for 20 hours just for the launching of a book by your favourite poet. But I admire your commitment and loyalty!!

Re: travels

I booked the tickets this morning, and I feel as though I have drunk five or more champagne cocktails, and the best thing is I WON'T HAVE A HANGOVER IN THE MORNING!

I have a very ancient and treasure book called 'Let's Get Well' by Adelle Davis, dead now unfortunately, but she has a lot to say about the causes and control of arthritis. Have a look at it. GG

travels
I wish you luck, more luck, and yet again, luck.    You now have a fan club of one.  When my arthritis gets me down, I shall read of your travels and dream.  Keep on globe trotting!
