It would be fair to say they don't help. But when arsonists are caught I believe that they should also make reparation because their actions had consequences to the lives (and deaths on occasion) of innocents that never did a thing to them.
Arson is a crime, that's the bottom line and while an informed understanding of how bush fires occur has been outlined in my Blog, in that inclusion is the fact that a deliberate act of lighting is also a contributing action. In my opinion, a fine or rap over the knuckles is an insufficient deterrent to a very wilful act.
