Thanks everyone - we all like a variety of stuff in the main don't we?
Nice to see notapoet back. Bhaskar, yes, maybe so - but who is interested in a Faerie Queene style sonnetathon, tempting though it is?

Tony, you must now write a sonnety novella. How 'bout that?

Self-help and spiritualism have been my thing for the past couple of years
although I do enjoy a good old saga like Tolkien - the last good book I read a few times was Shogun et al - by the way a most well written sonnet as always

I enjoy reading anything that holds my attention for more than a minute.
As a general rule, I prefer fiction of three main types.  The least of the three is best seller stuff that makes me say "I can do better than that, but so can anyone else with a lick of sense and basic typing skills."  In the middle is the stuff that makes me say "With a little study and practice I can do that."  Most of all I enjoy reading stuff that makes me say "Damn!  I wish I could do that."  Your sonnets fall into that category, and this latest one is one of my favorites already.  I'm looking forward to catching up on your others, though for now I probably need to catch a few winks.

Ha ha - speak for yourself, Sannhet!
Besides, it's getting too chilly now for that round here...

Tony -
Had to read that last line again - I thought it said poetry makes you read IN the buff!

Thanks readers - I just finished a book about the ex-manager -
now deceased - of my fave football team. It wasn't a biography exactly, more a novel, a blend of fact and fiction. I'm just going to whizz thru an account of Led Zeppelin's hellraising days and then I'll read some Ted Hughes poetry I bought recently in Yorkshire.

Tony

When I don’t have my nose buried in some self-help book or some psychological or spiritual exploration, give me a trashy romance novel any day! That and a beach and a chaise, of course…..

That's good Tony! I've just recently read "The Tenth Insight!"
(The Celestine Prohpecy)-by James Redfield--I found it fascinating! Also Clarissa PinkolaEstes-"Women Who Run With The Wolves"--wonderful! Mind you-I don't read a great deal but do like to read about "real people and real lives." Chris.

and to answer your question:

I'm a huge Michael Chrichton fan.  I read Prey in literally 4 hours.  It was extraordinary.

Also, love reading old books, 19th c. works--very big on poetry books, etc.
