gandolf could be trained to do that , but could i train him, i am hardly trained myself, lol.
sounds wonderful for the dogs and lots of fun for their people. they should keep the prizes just as they are if money becomes involved it will spoil it all.

Re: i have never heard of flyball, i have a dog, but he has stubby little l
Flyball is a team sport that I have heard is one of the fastest growing in the world. A team of four to six dogs, run four at a time in a series of 5 races (called heats) opposite another team. One after the other, the dogs must go out over 4 jumps, trigger a "box" that releases a ball, and carry that ball back over the four jumps. Four "clean" runs finishes the race. They must pass each other within a prescribed zone. The dogs are timed to a thousandth of a second. I cannot even fathom that space of time but the dogs are so fast! The jumps are measured according to the height of the smallest dog on the team but there is a minimum height (I think in NAFA it is 6 inches) and a maximum. The only restriction on dog type is that they must be healthy and able to jump the required height for their team. All the time, money and energy that we put into the training, traveling, equipment, etc. is done for fun. The prizes are things like a chew toy, a collar, dog biscuits, etc. LOL There are pins and plaques for various levels of achievement.

Re: AmMuse
Let's see. Amusing (love the pun), hard work, good exercise. I have yet to understand why it is that it is the dog who is the athlete but I am the one with sore, tired muscles, sprained fingers, ... LOL Truly it is great fun and the dogs love it. A super way to spend time with the dogs. Have you ever seen a race? A lot of people have never heard of it. AmMused
