Hana,
In poetry, it is always the setting that makes the word or phrase. So, even if "dearest", meaning most dear, would in and of itself be more loving than the momentary taste of a "sweetheart", if "sweetheart" is what your beloved calls you and "dearest" is what the waitress at your local diner calls everyone, then for you "sweetheart" is the most loving name in the whole world.

Seriously though, you make a good point. Most people do seem to invent their own language to each other that is more romantic.

I was confused as to what to call my male, romantic friend for he was
so much more than a boy and much more than a friend so I just called him baby. He liked that much more instead!
