Soul,
You are correct in that you can take care of your garden like no one else can, or will. Check out Earth Boxes for growing. They are a good solution if you don't have much room.

Sarooster
I love planting gardens. But I have nowhere to plant, though last year I did. The way I do it is reduce all fertilizers and insecticides. I use manure and compost. I use sprays only on young plants so they get to the point of self-sustenance...then I stop. And they come out well. Egg-plant is good for the heart, cucumbers are a cooling influence and a diuretic, string beans are good for diabetes, I love lettuce and hot peppers though I don't know what they're good for. Broccoli gives you all those good sulphur compounds, Pumpkin and squash gives you bio-flavonoids. And so on. No supermarket takes care of your vegetables like you do, with your health first and foremost!
