I don't pray at all. I wish and I hope. I trust and I will things. Happenstance answers all.

knight, good one.

at first i thought this is really a different post for knight, but i read and i chuckled and thought still the good sense of humor even for a serious post.  then i read comments, and using god as an excuse gave me a big laugh.

on the big switchboard in the sky, god you have a call coming through, they need advice on buying a car.  god, tell them i've gone out for a round of golf.

I don't really pray about things like that...Plus I only ask for such guidance when it comes to the BIG things, like world peace..

I agree with you to a point.  I don't think I have ever prayed over what to buy or not to buy.  My prayers that are personal seem to major on praise and thanksgiving, that raises my level of faith that He can and will take care of all my needs without me worrying over them.  Intercessory prayer is another thing, but the trust carries over even at that and I know that however He answers, He has our best interests in the hollow of his hand.

God knew I couldn't cope with that job right now. That's why he sent me to the nail salon last week. (I really don't mean to offend anyone.. it's just that life seems full of odd coincidences.) Jung calls it synchronicity.

Good questions posed here. My beliefs have grown beyond this example of

prayer (although I never found myself praying for such stuff   ) and in turn believe the aspects of spirituality are like taking tiny steps on a long journey...in the evolution of spirituality. I believe someone praying for God's advice on the purchase of a car is someone who stumbled onto Baltic Aven., hasn't passed Go & has yet to collect the $200.

I don't care if someone is praying for a car, they are practicing their communication skills with God, although I would prefer not to about it. I believe our relationship with God is intimate (betwixt thee & me). I share my journey in my writing giving others the option to read or not.

The most difficult aspect of my belief, is in our spiritual connection to others and in believing so, the truest trial for me is to unconditionally accept those believing it is their duty to save my soul who haven't bought a house yet on Venture Avenue.

(I might hide when I see them coming ..... but wouldn't disrespect or belittle the debth or lack thereof of their current belief.) I'm sure most would hide, and eyes would glaze over if I were to verbally communicate my moments of enlightenment or insight. That is why I write here instead.

Would you like some coffee with that donut sir?   yup, ahuh, sure......thank you.

Interesting and thought provoking, Tattered Knight..
Tho' maybe it isn't God - probably credit card companies/banks imitating His voice...:) Just a thought.
