We'll find out on December 10 whether or not the judge will allow a
mockery to be made of a two-year federal investigation...

You nailed that one
Yeah and what a fine example that has been set.

I have to agree, Soul Builder. I think he's flat-out lying as well. Of
course, we could be wrong -- but I sincerely doubt it.  This is all just way too convenient...

saul relative
A public relations ploy causing elevation to holiness! No change in inner substance! He's lying!

Irresponsible, ladyoflight, would be the way I'd put it, in word
and conduct...

It is tiring isn't it when people find Jesus like this (too convenient)..... Jesus isn't a scapegoat.....  It is just another way of saying....I am not responsible......  boring.....  thanks for nailing it!!

I would go so far as to all of them, Julia. I maintain that people of
conscious "find Jesus" or have already found Jesus and do not commit these acts.  People claim to "find Jesus" not only to assuage their own personal guilt (sometimes) but to make themselves look better and perhaps be seen with less hostility and forgiveness (most of the time) by a very forgiving and let's-give-him-a-second-chance mentality shared by many of us.  People who suddenly find Jesus only when their ass is in deep crap do it to manipulate.  Vick didn't find Jesus; he and his lawyers found a possible way out of this mess or, at the very least, a bit of damage control...

excellently expressed post Saul!

I can't know what goes on in the minds of those who "suddenly" find Jesus right before judgement day, so perhaps some of them genuinely do. But with it happening so much by so many, I think it's safe to say that for some it's simply an attempt not to bear responsibility for what they've done.

Goodbye!

Your last couple sentences nailed it, Naut. This is just meaningless
crap being spewed to ameliorate a potentially lengthy sentence.  He found Jesus?  Who cares?  Tell a Christian or a Muslim.  He's disappointed in himself?  Get in line.  Oh, and that line begins with you, moron.

Saul

Yes, it's standard procedure for people to 'find' Jesus when they have have been caught! And there was another remark in Vick's 'apology' that I found remarkable. He said, "I'm disappointed in myself."

That's a remark that fits a situation in which someone does something not in keeping with his character, something that cannot be reconciled with his 'usual self'.

But Vick engaged in the most barbaric behaviour for years. It is part of what he is! He was clearly never disappointed in himself at all, otherwise he would have stopped. So what caused this sudden disappointment? Being caught? Or was this just part of the meaningless prattle people utter on these occasions?

It's okay that you didn't know who he is, lustorlove. Your life is
probably far richer for it...

I agree that people should show a little more concern with the current
unsolved murder rate in Atlanta, blacksnow, as opposed to whether or not Michael Vick will get prison time over the killing of fighting dogs.  But humans will find their entertainment where they can, be it in a dogfight or in watching a dog fighter fight for his professional career.  Would that our priorities were a bit higher...

Now if only we could punish those who kill humans as we punish dog abusers

--gives a new name "they treat their dogs better than they treat me!" Perhaps we are in a endless war...with crusdaders? Jesus -Buddha--Gandh --Mother Theresa were mostly consistent about respecting human lives. Just as Lincoln was focussed on saving the Nation, the American Union, and sacrificed African-American equality in the bargain. He remains a great President. Because he tried to be consistent... and caring. He thanked Black Union heroes and soldiers. Life is often Fick**G inconsistent, especially in our beloved democracies.
