Most definitely, TAPS. I always gauge a man's character by the way he
treats animals and children...

All of that money is beyond my comprehension.  But, even moreso is the idea that someone would want to have fun and make money at the expense of animals.   Only sorry at getting caught, I'm sure.

It's the imperviousness factor, notapoet. The denial of the fact that they

are above it all, that they can't do anything, that they will get caught or have to actually pay a punitive price for ill-conceived or illegal actions.  I'll bet Michael Vick has been watching the OJ verdict over and over and over...

And you're right.  If it were you or I, notapoet, we'd get the full five years, plus the fines, maybe even some form of social reparation, like community service in a Humane Society or ASPCA shelter.  Although I don't know for certain, I'd go so far as to say that Vick probably got less time than the three guys who turned on him...

Yes, he could
But unless he is even more stupid than he's acted so far, he'll probably get by much better than you or I ever will.  Look at OJ.  Although no longer fabulously wealthy, he seems to be enjoying a much better lifesyle than I'll ever see.  It would be good if Vick served as an object lesson to most of today's wayward young athletes.  But he probably won't.  They never seem to learn.  And as long as professional franchises and businesses that ought to know better keep throwing money at these spoiled and overprivileged athletes there is no real reason for most of them to think anything like what's happening to Vick could ever happen to them.
