P.S. Re: "I' not sure if Arrellano is the one who broke it."
Actually, Arellano is a twice-convicted felon who came to the United States illegally in 1997. After being deported, she returned to the U.S. and lived in Oregon illegally for three years before moving to Illinois where she lived illegally for two years. She was arrested and convicted of Social Security Fraud by using a false Social Security number to obtain employment. In defiance of a court order to appear before the INS, she holed-up in a church in Chicago where she hid illegally for over a year. When she left the church to stage a protest in Los Angeles, she was arrested and deported once again. The facts alone prove that she broke the law.

Should Elvira Arellano have been deported?

I agree with both of you.
Immigration law is there for a reason and, due to the increased need for National Security after 9/11, it is all the more necessary for it to be enforced. Not all illegal immigrants are terrorists, but there are terrorists among the illegal immigrants. Not all illegal immigrants are violent criminals, but there are violent criminals among the illegal immigrants. We need to do everything we can to secure our borders and secure our homeland. That includes cracking down on those who come here illegally as well as those who make it profitable for them to do so.

Re: I' not sure if Arrellano is the one who broke it.
Straightforward: I agree with you but I also agree with Kevin_Lauer that she should be deported and broke the law.

I' not sure if Arrellano is the one who broke it.
The people who created the conditions where she had to leave her home country are the main culprits along with the employers who find it convenient to employ these people as cheap labour and governments who turn a blind eye to this as cheap labour means cheap products to compete with other traders in the international and local market.
