Well done Tony. Wiley has wisdom that we can all use. How creative of you to incorporate his thoughts into a sonnet. ~Peace, OTA

Any addiction, obsession, extreme attachment
is bad for the soul.  I liked it.

Najwa, thanks for your comments. I agree that we do need to escape.
It's difficult but we need to treat the causes of unhappiness and then we are less likely to rely on addictions.

Spyridon - well, thanks for your comments. I'm humbled you thought that
since I don't have direct knowledge. I drink too much occasionally but that's it. I smoke very occasionally. I gamble occasion ally. But by and large I keep it all under control - so far. I'm well aware of the dangers. My views in this sonnet  are mainly gained from Wiley's book.

Tony    I know that you are the Poet of the true life I truly admire your brave free spirit but some time we have to escape from our pains and the dark caves, some time we need to breath clean air above green hill or down long valley, well, it is why some of us can not reach this power of you every day,  but the best in us all that we are Poets and the POET never follow any one but his soul and you have the greatest wisdom in the all.........the stranger

#352

wow..what can I say! This piece describes my battle and struggle with gambling and all the
misery that it has caused in my life the past 20 years. It struck me in the face like a brick!
I almost think as I read it that I actually wrote it! What an unbelievable piece.
Great job !

Tony - I think perhaps what I am hearing is that the book moved you.
Hence, perhaps your sonnet.  I am also thinking, how could it not, since you sort of know Wiley.  Thank you, Tony.

Hi Dave - no, I phoned them and said I'd take a day's leave - not a 'sicky
I was awake half the night and couldn't be bothered going in. Didn't wake up till nearly 9.30 in the end.

Antonio-yo-yo - Gosh, Tony, that was really good! I cannot wait to read
Wiley's book.  It has not arrived yet.  Maybe today.  I am only learning about fear these days.  In some ways it is very complicated.  For me, anyway.  Wonderful writing, Tony.  It touched my heart...

Very good. Contemplative and serious. And also a reminder to me that I fancy getting a copy of Wiley's book too.
