It's true. Most people are so self-involved they don't actually see
what makes others tick. It's part of the writer's blessing / curse, to be observant and pick up on things that others don't sense. It's a blessing because one can learn how NOT to be, but a curse because when you come right down to it, as humans we all view the world from inside a particular brain whose primary goal is survival.
