Yet again another tragic event - so many lives will be touched and altered forever.

Wow, were they on it when it fell?
Hope they are okay, Ted.

My nephew and his wife were on the bridge. They go across every day
to get to and from work.

Oh my god, this is the first I've heard of it. I need to go watch CNN until Rescue Me comes on.

I enjoyed those posts, Mary..bridges are wonderful, awesome to look
at, but crossing them is nerve wracking, especially across large bodies of water..especially when one is not a strong swimmer...:) I'm sure the engineers are scrambling this moment for answers.

RaeS - Yes, I understand. I get very nervous when these things happen.
I've posted about bridges before.  While I love to look at and photograph them, they make me very nervous to cross.  I'm feeling very tense and bad for all concerned but also for the engineers.  I was married to one once.

Me too, Sunny..crossing bridges always makes me tense..

Oh good, you heard the same, Sally
Thank God..the reporters keep talking about the construction that was going on, but as you say, this wasn't some rickety, frail structure..hard to fathom why at this point.

Thanks for reporting Rae.
These kind of things dealing with water scare the heck out of me.

I have been watching this terrible tragedy
Unfold...How horrible. Thank Gawd that bus with 30 kids on it was okay too..Can you imagine being on a bridge and then it all of a sudden plunges into the river? What a terrible nightmare this is...I am surprised this bridge gave out..I have crossed it a few times in my travels and the thought of it falling is unreal...It's a big....big bridge...

Yes, devastating..Thank you, Ariala
I tried to copy and paste some photos, but they didn't take.

There was a schoolbus full of kids on that bridge too
sad...so sad.

First death being reported..

Reeling from the tragedy of the situation, Mary...Too early to know

the cause or toll of fatalities/injuries. News coverage is filling the airwaves. The Mississippi River has been on my mind, in relation to seismic activity from earthquakes, quite heavily the last couple of days - there is a poem posted in Rays about the river reversing course back in the 1800's due to a major quake. Just a bit chilled..

RaeS - Please calm down everyone...... I heard from someone of whom I
know and respect.  It's horrible yes, but please wait to see what the cause is.  God be with you all this evening.
