Your love of the sea, coastal places, sailing vessels, and sailing,
  • Nautikos, becomes more and more obvious when reading your posts describing your travels into the Maritimes...each one an historically rich travel commentary enhanced by your wonderful accompanying photographs.  Your writing is, as always, very precise and factual, and yet a depth of feeling shines through so clearly as to make historical non-fiction, an often boring subject to me, greatly appealing. I find myself waiting until you have written two or three posts so I can read them all at once; each is so well done it leaves me wanting to read more. I am usually very patient; I que well for instance as I love people-watching, but I am most impatient when reading anything serial like in nature that has captivated my attention and stimulated my imagination! In this respect I'm afraid I must admit to being part of the now generation who thrives on instant gratification! I really enjoyed the subtle and not so subtle personal insights into the author as I read about your love and appreciation of feline company and your great enjoyment of cooking for and entertaining friends.

Always a great read found here in your Blogs...more, more, please!

Re: Naut - AHA! Ha, ha, ha. This was so lovely! I must take a road trip
Mary, I am quite familiar with the story of Africville (not Africtown) in Halifax, but if you want to tell it, go right ahead, I won't mind...

Naut - AHA! Ha, ha, ha. This was so lovely! I must take a road trip
down there.  The photos were beautiful and I heard your heart singing about this area.  Now that you've posted this.......I'm hesitant.  Tonight I'd written about the anniversay of Africtown today.......I haven't posted it, and I won't if it makes you feel uncomfortable.  I was going to post it tomorrow.  Let me know.

Great country, isn't it? And did you know that Canada had the third largest navy in the West during WWII, after the US and Britain?

Nautikos

Offy picked up on that point in your blog as did I about the 2 women that turned out to be cats. How very, uh, peaceful that was.hoss. LOL

But your pictures are exquisite, and I love that ocean country myself and went to see both my boys graduate from basic militray training there. My oldest served on the Provider in the RCN and I went to see him on that down there as well.

Take care of yourself my friend.........................................................................
