No it doesn't Ben.
Some of the stuff that I've done in the two sidebars has a little bit of html but you don't need it. You can copy/paste stuff in. The stuff that I did is just basic like links and font colors.

I have really liked how you can change the look and feel of typepad. The possibilities are endless. In fact, you can now create individual pages. You could create a whole website using typepad and have your blog be part of it.
