I think Poetry is riding a wave of peak popularity right now and will soon fall back a little. But I doubt it will fall out of number one in overall popularity anytime soon. It's so far ahead of the closest competitors, Journal and Everything Else, that it would take a while for either to catch up if half the poets quit poetizing, or whatever you call it. Strangely enough my experience has been that well over half the people I've met who admit to giving writing a try fancy themselves to be poets. There have always been more Poetry blogs on Blogit than anything else. They just haven't always enjoyed so much popularity among the readers.

Hi - it i strange how poetry is top - it always seemed to be the journal
category before. Have a lot of people switched over, or - surely not - all the newcomers deciding to do poetry and not journals? I think poetry is easier to read than journals because it's more succinct. It cuts out a lot of the and, or, blah, blah stuff, and is easier on the eye. But as you say, it isn't always easier to write, and surely people who want to write poetry are in the minority? A puzzle. It's up to you to solve it, Notapoet!!
