I do understand what you are saying, but...it's still hard not to take it to heart

Julia, Wiki has a bad problem with people posting falsehoods
incorrect information, and all the other crapolla. The sad part is the people who read the information take it to heart without any further research. If I could, I would find a way to hold Wiki laible for false and slanderous information. Perhaps it would get someone's attention in a hurry.

Congrats--I see how U prefer the one notoriety more than the other. Please
do not anguish of the other brother's sins, as it remains between him and his Maker. After all, you are not his parent, only a sister and "younger"? shlomFromNeilDurbin

I am glad that my Mom doesn't know how to use the internet. She would not fare well reading all of the stuff about her son.

I think peace is a lifelong project when you have this kind of legacy.

"Joe Blow" compiled this page from a bunch of other ones on the net, and it is apparent that they could give a rat's ass about getting the facts straight.

well, I think I am (for the most part) "living in the present." It's kind of hard not to look back when you see something like this on the internet.

wiki is worthless as any sort of "credible" source.

posted by Julia. on July 14, 2007 at 11:20 AM | link to this | reply

That is disturbing, Julia..
But you and your family seem to continue moving forward despite the weight of tragedy and sorrow placed unbidden. Such a legacy can never be forgotten by those still struggling to understand. But I know the wonder of time placing one foot in front of the other does bring a measure of peace and acceptance eventually.  May the motion keep on bringing you and yours said peace.

Julia........
If they can make money off of it, they will.  Sorry, I know it must be difficult for you and your family.  People can be just plain cruel!

posted by MaggieMae on July 14, 2007 at 9:28 AM | link to this | reply

Get the facts straight? Given the tricks memory plays on us,
in almost any given situation, getting it straight is difficult. We have to take all accounts into our heads and then try to follow the threads of fact. I'm sorry you have the weight of your brother's trouble on your shoulders, it can darken life for you even though none of it is your debt or your responsibility.  Hope you find a way to be at peace about it soon. :)

yes the truth hurts, but falsehoods hurt more. It's like, isn't the truth bad enough, you have to try to make it worse?

I go by my married name because really, why would I want to revert to my maiden name under the circumstances. My maiden name, the name my nephews have, is actually vry uncommon. So it does stand out...

Gosh, that's got to be tough. As if the truth isn't hard enough, someone has to go and spread false information. Sorry you had to run across that.

Julia - Sorry to read this. It must be so hard for you. Yes, they really
should get the facts straight.

Regarding the wiki, there are editors with special authorities. You can report to them and get permission to correct the article if the page is already locked.

Julia...
Do they share your same last name?  If so...it seems to me that it is a pretty common name.  I know I probably wouldn't make the connection because it is a name you hear quite frequently.  I think your fears would be more justified if your last name was something unusual like Bundy, or Dommer, names you don't hear every day.  Just a thought.

but in this case, banger makes sense because the cars smash into each other!

Yes, Julia, 'Banger' is 3 things over here:
  • a battered old car
  • a sausage
  • a firework

Not incredibly relevant to the post any longer, but still, you like words, so there you go.

okay thanks. I am interested but not sure if this is the right time. Not so much financially but "evolutionarily" --that's probably not a word but I think you know what I mean?

Last I checked he charges $90 for a 60-90 minute recording on

cassette. He can do this by mail and you can send in questions for him to cover when he does the reading. I may be able to get you a 10% discount.

rcky--

I know, I may well be the only one who thinks of it, and part of me has to wonder what that is all about, "who I am" that it has to keep coming into my mind. (see, I didn't say "why"--lol).

I don't know how my nephews feel, I've never spoken of it with them. As for the karma I agree with you it would be interesting. Didn't you say you had a friend who does Akashic readings?

Dotty Dave--
hey, nice to see you! I've never heard of Banger Racing, isn't banger a British word? I'll have to check into correcting the info on Wiki.

posted by Julia. on July 13, 2007 at 9:45 AM | link to this | reply

Geesh, I don't know what to say Julia. It would be easy to say it's time

to move on...but I'm NOT in your shoes. I think maybe sometimes like at the racetrack when you heard your nephews name called you immediatly wondered if all the people's thoughts went to your brother (like having a zit that you think everyone is looking at but nobody notices but you). Probably some did but I bet the majority did not. It was a long time ago and I believe maybe the younger ones are not so aware. I know living in small town makes it even more difficult to move on. How are your nephews about this family history? You know at the end of the day who cares what people think? You should only care about what your friends and family think and not people you don't give a rat's ass about.  I would love to hear about your brother's past lives....some serious karma there.

posted by RckyMtnActivist on July 13, 2007 at 9:33 AM | link to this | reply

Julia, your nephews are creating the new legacy, the one that will grow and supercede. The more they get in the news the better.

As for the inaccuracies on Wikipedia, isn't the idea there that any reader can update entries where false information has been published.

On a tangent, we call it 'Banger Racing' over here in addition to 'Stock Car'. Do you?
