Hi Spencer - there must be a balance, I think -
too much too young leaves little left for old age! Of course, if we knew the date of our death, we might speed up considerably. A morbid thought, but we would! But then as we don't know it, we don't have time to be disappointed! There, a cheerful thought...!

Very interesting and thought-provoking.
Though I do think there is something to be said for living for posterity through our good works. It can create a small sort of immortality here on earth, amongst family and friends at least, after we are gone. Sometimes, with a little luck, it is even possible to leave a legacy to many.
