It is an important work, danieljulie, that should be mandatory reading for

Do that, teddy. It's the best and most accessible read on the ridiculous
buildup, invasion, and occupation of Iraq that I've seen to date.  The fact that Ricks uses so many Pentagon and military sources is pure indictment of a radicalized and ideology-fueled, not to mention completely inept, administration...

There are quite a few good books out about the Iraq quagmire, callista.
I'm reading Blackwater now.  It's about contractors, a.k.a "security forces" -- read mercenaries.

Thanks, panspen. I've heard of the work but have never read it.
I'll add it to my growing list of must-read books under the heading: "Never again..."

Thanks, I'll try and get a copy through Amazon. If you haven't already you might like to check out "The Great War for Civilisation: the conquest of the Middle East" by Robert Fisk, a savage indictment on the West's criminal involvement in the Middle East that has condemned the region to ceaseless violence. For many years Robert Fisk  was the Middle East Correspondent for 'The  Independent'  - one of the few   newspapers in the UK worthy of the name. So he has the credentials to back it up.
