The troops will remain in Iraq long after Bush is gone. How long? Who
knows? And there will be no significant withdrawal of troops either. The "surge" will not work because they're fighting a guerilla insurgency that simply goes where they ain't. Even so, there still aren't enough troops in Iraq to do the job of occupation and reconstruction at the same time. And it doesn't look as if the Iraqis are going to stand up for themselves anytime soon.
