I agree, that's the best sandwich one can have.  Its really great on a good rye bread too with some fresh ground black pepper and a chunk of Vidalia onion on the side.

You could have your own orange tree in FL. A garden is so fun

Sounds like a great garden. I suggest aluminum pans tied to string on tall stakes to keep the birds away.

Hi Freemanwalking.....homegrown tomatoes are the BEST! The ones in

the grocery store are tasteless. We have a garden this year and we planted Beefsteak tomatoes and they are doing great. We also planted spaghetti squash (that's taking over), beans, eggplant,  a variety of peppers, and and a large assortment of herbs. We also have strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Now if we could just keep the birds away. Don't you just love growing your own food? I do! Enjoy!

For consistent absolute heaven in every bite,
there is simply no other tomato than those grown on St. Helena Island, off the coast of South Carolina. They just taste like summer.

You are absolutely right -- never, ever refrigerate a tomato for a tomato sandwich.

My Beloved took another step toward sainthood the other day by getting some of the tomatoes just coming in out of my garden and making me a tomato pie. I knew I fell in love with her for a reason!

I've always wished I liked tomatoes. Actually there are a lot of fruits and veggies I wished I liked more, so I could grow them myself. Must be very satisfying to eat something you've grown. :)
