Well said....

I don't think some of these politicians have an ounce of common sense. Yet they manage to get elected. Maybe some voters are lacking common sense as well.

Re: Re: Re:
plenty, in many states, property taxes do go towards funding schools. There is a clear sign there is a problem when schools are forced to cut classes from their school year, including English classes. Also the fed, does determine state spending when it comes to areas that include, schools and other non-emergency institutions. This was just part of Bushes hair brained, No student left behind bill.

Re: Re:
Really??

The portion of money given to schools by the Federal government is small compared to the states and property taxes.......so what does the fed have to do with it?

Re:
One more thing on the subject, you can tell how successful an economic policy is by how it affects the institutions that rely on tax dollars. Try Googling schools that either have had to reduce or slash their gym classes altogether, it may surprise you.

Re:
To answer question of if I believe that the 80.8 billion dollar deficit ranks higher than that of any other modern day president, the answer is yes and so does anyone else who often studies the economy. Further more, you generally can judge how an economic policy is affecting the working class be the average debt to income ratio and by most accounts, most Americans are in the negative.

That 80.8 billion dollars that the Washington Post touts as an "improvement" is still a record deficit compared to other sitting Presidents.

You seriously believe what you just said don't you???

Re: If the tax cuts were so bad........
To Corbin Dallas:

That 80.8 billion dollars that the Washington Post touts as an "improvement" is still a record deficit compared to other sitting Presidents.   And the tax cuts which Bush passed by and large benefit the rich and does nothing for working people who, because of the cuts, pay more in services and disproportionately bear the burden of paying up the GDP.

Furthermore the US coffers are now bare and all the "wealth" used to actually run our country comes from loans from foreign allies, mainly China and the European Union.

If the tax cuts were so bad........
why is it that the Federal government is taking in record revenues???

Revenue Collections Hit Record High in April, Improve Budget Deficit

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Federal revenue collections hit an all-time high in April, contributing to a further improvement in the budget deficit for the year.

Releasing its monthly budget report, the Treasury Department said Thursday that through the first seven months of this budget year, the deficit totals $80.8 billion, significantly below the $184.1 billion imbalance run up during the first seven months of the 2006 budget year.
