Alf...
I swear you are hard to keep up with. I kept looking on my favorites where I have your posts saved and no new posts. Finally I click on your name and there you are...with a new blog! Sneaky!  Anyways, I like the idea of posting per day. I think it'll be hard for you but go for it. I'll try to read it lol. Healthcare is a touchy one with me. I can get my pain killers, 40 of them for 10 bucks and be loopy for a couple of weeks... but if I need a serious drug to save my life such as my lovenox... a weeks worth of injections with insurance is 185 dollars. Screw it, make me high... I won't care if I die that way. I'm too poor to live lol.

Julia...
That's why I'm trying it this way, I think it will make me write more.  It's an experiment.

OTA...

I don't really disagree with you...too much.    It is just my personal choice...for me.

I realize I pay into the system, but I like to think of my dollars being used for education, roads, infrastructure, etc.  It just makes me a happier taxpayer to think of it like that.  My own brother just wound up in the hospital on the public tab, though his affliction was not self induced.

I did not think badly of him for recieving help, but if he would have chose not to I would have supported that decision as well.  He has not paid very much into the system himself.  In fact I think that people who use government money the most are generally the ones who contribute to it the least...would you say that is correct?

Me not accepting that type of help is just my little way of leading by example, even though I know it wont make any difference in the big picture.  I can't even accept unemployment, never have, even though I have been eligible for it whenever I have been unemployed and that's ALL my money that I have paid into it, it just feels icky so I wont take it.

My children...well, honestly if they felt convicted as I do then I would support them in not recieving free medical care from the government.  They have known all their life that they need a job to pay for such things, so if they don't take appropriate steps to insure their own security I just don't feel like it's anyone elses job to do it for them...I know it might sound a little harsh and I would be devastated if something bad happened to any of them, but in a way it would be their own fault for not preparing for their own future.  My daughter is getting some financial aid right now.  I don't like it, but I don't admonish her for it either.  I better stop now, or I will just keep on and on and on...

Alf..hmmm

Ok.. I was following merrily along enjoying your post and read this;

I refuse personally to have the taxpayers in general pay for my affliction...it's not their job.

Aren't you a taxpayer? I work for the public health system and often hear people say  "I don't want anyone else to have to pay for my problems".

The opposite is more often heard about...the ones who abuse the system. I would hope you could remember that you paid into the 'system" you don't want to burden, the system of care that is supported by your very dollars. Also .. just to put a little tug at your heart strings.. what if one of your children said something like that.. they would rather die than accept help from the goverment..? I  sure hope you will reconsider that thought if it ever becomes an issue. ~Peace, OTA
