I'm beginning to think, although it maybe a bit too late, that King George
and the Bobbleheads are finally figuring that out (read: Petraeus, Odierno -- even though he helped screw it up a bit as well, Fallon, and Gates).

No doubt about that, joab. However, in all the documents and materials
I've read in the past five years with regard to Iraq, the military has made its share of mistakes, but many have been made at the behest and at odds with the Bush administration, Rumsfeld himself, and the great American who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor (for screwing up Iraq far worse than it should have been humanly possible) Paul Bremer.  Nothing wrong with civilian direction and oversight, but letting the military do their job in a war without hamhanded interference is extremely important.

RE: Disconnect Between Civilian And Military Leadership
The disconnect is the "wall of silence" that prevents the seamless truth from being presented and trusting the people to absorb the facts, instead we are fed the televised version of the "truth" after it has been washed and hung out to dry.   j
