I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Mysticim is simply using your own mind, reasoning and logic to find God.

You have a hunch, you explore that hunch. You read as much as you can and ask as many questions as you can. Finally the puzzle pieces start coming together. Truth is found by those who ernestly seek it. Whatever scares you is very often the very thing that is safe to  examine.

Some of the greatest mystics were Gnostics. Gnostics gathered wisdom themselves
and did not rely on contemporary church ideology. They were persecuted because they went against the flow and were thought to be in collusion with Satan.
Did you know that John's gospel is a classic Gnostic text?

In the words of Kahlil Gibran...the man who brings light into a dark world is bound to suffer!
