You look at something like this and see how wasted this man's blessing was. God help him.

It is so sad that most children at some time are ashamed of their parents. It is so sad that at some time parents are ashamed of their children. We all make mistakes, but I can't fathom this disgust because of a physical defect and God pulled a good one on this selfish man. Thank you as always for reading and commenting. Be blessed friend.

Forgive your brother now and God will set all records right between you two. It is hard in life sometimes because we don't always know the whole story. Be blessed.

You are what a relationship with our Lord Jesus produces. That is the most forgiving comment I have read. May God bless and repay all you and your father's family lost in relationship, spiritually and financially. Be blessed friend and thank you so much for your beautiful comment.

A wonderful lesson

I have reservations as to its veracity, but I choose to believe.  It teaches a wonderful lesson that all of us could learn from.

Thank you.

THERE BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD ...

I was touched by your memories.  My father was an alcoholic.  His father, my grandfather, went out for that "proverbial" loaf of bread and never came back.  My father was the eldest --he was 12 years old and he had 3 younger siblings.

My father hustled jobs on the street until he was 13; and then a kindly electrician took him in and taught him the trade as an apprentice.  Can you imagine at 13 being the sole support of a family; my grandmother never recovered, she died heart-broken.  My aunt -- my dad's sister -- spent nearly 30 years in search.  It ended in San Pedro, Ca. when my aunt finally discovered him in a small store in the Mexican part of the town.

My aunt said my grandfather recognized her immediately when she asked him his name and collapsed in a chair, face pale and shaken, and his first words: "I've been dreading this day for nearly 30 years."

My aunt just stated that she wanted to see the man who would do such a thing to 4 defenseless children -- let alone abandon the wife.  He replied, something like: "I just couldn't stand it seeing you kids go hungry."

My aunt was speechless at his poor excuse, and turned around, and never looked back.

My dad became an alcoholic because he was part of a crowd of me -- for the first time he "belonged" and was terrified that he must keep up.  And so...you know the rest.

But, I will love him to my dying breath -- and it shall be a prayer to God to overlook his transgression

this hits home with me and when I knew my mom was dying I told her I loved her, I know she heard me, but it was always hard to say that to her even though I did, its almost been a year since that day.  I  still feel bad for I didnt make up with my brother

Thanks for this justi. I feel too many people( and Im guilty too)
always think there will be time enough.  Even if its a weekly phonecall its a good idea to try to keep in touch. As for making peace, thats one thing I never ignore.  It has to be done pronto.
