Sometimes friendships, even very close ones, go through periods where one person is absorbed in events in their own lives and can't be there for the other. Maybe L is having her own struggles with her new marriage and feeling down, afraid to reach out?

Jem, I do hope you are ok....you sound so very sad.

I have been gone a while and not sure whats been going on in your life lately. This email that you sent your friend is very heartfelt...honest....pure....I believe she will understand exactley where you are coming from and what you mean....as I did - as an outsider.
