Good question
You make a good point, there's so many unhappy-seeming couples that I agree, there's nothing wrong with a bit of PDA. I think it shouldn't be beyond a little kiss or touch or whatever, no serious making out, that's something I don't want to see. Moderation, I say. ^_^

snubnose, holding hands, a little kiss on the cheek or forehead..nothing
wrong with expressions like that...I'll always remember an older gentleman we passed on an evening walk..he made the comment as we passed him about how nice it was to see a couple walking together and holding hands....made us both feel good....

snubnose
Sometimes I truly believe it's the difference between having enough sleep and not.  The world is busy and some tend to 'hurry up and sleep'.  While others having slowed down and slept well, can meander along anywhere and enjoy the Now and seal it with a kiss.  I love public affection as it never tires me.

snub

being attentive to one another, smiling, a pat on the butt or a kiss - all these things are great, and make me smile when I notice them.

On the other hand, noticing a couple screwing on a public beach recently, even if it was close to some bushes, and forcing me to turn away, is revolting...

Public affection ... I am okay with that as long as it is sincere and
scrupulous...

Some people are truly strange and have no respect for others around .

I am always reminded of a line from One Day at a Time----
yes that old show- "it's amazing they haven't been attacked by bees"-- but if they haven't then they could be even sweeter-- so more power to them-- but not to the couple stripping each other in Dairy Queen.

Looking into the same eyes for years and years? Looking should be enough.
