How can we feather the next and then expect them to fly?

My mom and my granparents always said "Yes" to us kids..
I think now that is the reason we have trouble with our finances as adults.

Oh yes
I think most of us can relate to this.  It's tough to say no, but for me the first question is 'can or or do I want to do this?'  If the answer is no, then no is waht I say.  If I can make it happen, I do.  It's a tough call in teh situation you are facing, but in the final analysis, I think it's wisest to ask yourself.  There are no rules.  Yes?

being the young adult who had no one, at all, I always swore I would help my kids. After giving my all (plus) to help my little sister, and seeing how it only enabled her- i know that I won't make those same mistakes when my little girl grows up.
your children are blessed. Blessed to know that you love them enough to help them, and then expect them to grow up.
Hopefully soon they realize this :)

Living
Yes, as a parent, it's very difficult sometimes to say no.  My eldest became destitute while over in AU, well, not completely, she was at a shelter....anyway, I paid for her flight home ($19k) and gave her $500.00 and told her no more.  I was done.  She hasn't asked for a dime since.  Yet, anyway.   She leaves in a week to work as a dance choreographer at an Arts camp just North of Montreal.  Hopefully this works out.

I agree with the concluding remark of this sentimental post .
I am going through this situation so I can very well relate to it .
