Re: Tony
Thank you for your input. I too agree that certainty can be dangerous. The Bush administration is a case in point. As an atheist, however, I am not certain that God does not exist, and I would be the first to admit I was mistaken if I find a solid reason to believe; I do not yet possess such a reason. In this respect, I do not cling to certainty, though I do cling to the laws of probability. Many people, upon hearing the word atheist, automatically think of one who is conceited, stubborn, and certain. For many atheists, this is not the case at all. In fact, it is often to the contrary, as I'm sure you're well aware.
Cheers,
dja

Hi - I am an agnostic atheist, too - although I've probably become a less
entrenched one recently and become a more open-minded one. I don't like certainty - it always seems to be proved wrong eventually!

Re: OTA
The feeling, my friend, is mutual and transcends religion--or lack thereof--in any sense of the word.

Thank you for your well thought out comment on my post. I appreciate the time you spent developing a kind response.
To comment further from my point of view.. I did see the differences of the atheist when compared to or contrasted with the agnostic, and although I don't dare to say that I have complete understanding of either.. I can say that I have given them both a look see as we say in the southern US.
The post that you read is part of a journey as you described it. I have come to realize certain things about my own thoughts as they pertain to God. I also have come to realize the absolute absurdity of religion to even come within a molecule of explaining God. However, having said that I also know how much we as human beings seek understanding.. we want to know why.. we want to know how.. we want to know when.. we want. The conclusions to those questions are as endless as man.. hence the confusion.
I see all of us on a great long line (a very straight line.. not a bell curve where some might be considered "better" than the rest). some of us are believers.. some of us are doubters.. and some of us are deniers. There are subdivisions in each of those groups.. but to make this shorter I have lumped them together. God knows about all these differences.. we are his children.. his creation.. and like any good father.. he knows we are all different and he loves each of us the same.
Thank you again.. you have my highest praise.
