You are quite correct. There is really no oversight in the deal. With 535 people in our House and Senate there's really no way for anyone to stand up and stop it other than with a line-item veto scenario. We have weak and terrible people for the most part in our Congress.

Sarooster: I read the article about congressional pet projects. The only way to stop this is the line item veto. Apparently, Congress can't or won't police itself. The Republicans did the same thing when they were in control of the Congress. If the line item veto isn't passed; you have to get rid of the lobbyists which is a first amendment issue.
