Indeed it is... I was in a meloncholy state, listening to Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" because that was a song Jay got stuck on just before we reconciled. It put me in the mood I was in at that time, and looking back was thinking, "you had your chance." (Mike) One of my friends said:
"even with counseling, a certain amount of toxic love may still be going on at his house - who is to know? His existence, dim as it was before me, may be preferred; he couldn't stand up to my "brightness."
It all had me thinking how lucky I am today. I'm sure he thinks the same thing, only I carry none of the shame he does, with none of the regrets. My life is richer for the experience and it made our marriages better than they were. Well -- I should speak only for myself here as I haven't communicated with him for well over a year now.
