I'm sorry to hear your mother got that demon because of smoking,I hope you can keep her alive in your memories and cherish her in your heart.Smoking is such a useless, daring thing to do.
It's like dancing with the devil.I'm very happy I stopped smoking and I'll never start again. Also, I sort of convinced my mom and her man to both stop smoking too. They will try when the circumstances are a bit less stressful (my mothers' man has just lost his father). My youngest sister swears she is going to stop smoking as soon as she is pregnant,so that's also good.I try to make a conscience to smokers ,to quit smoking as it does nothing good, but only the opposite. My best friend has stopped too.I hope many people will do the same thing and realize what they are doing and what risks they take by smoking.Thank you for your comment and wish you all the best ,my friend.

From an outsider's point of view I can say that it is so hard to quit...
most of my latter teenage years I watched as my mother tried to stop (much at the insistent cawing of my father)...there were very short stints when the cigarettes were put down, thrown away, hidden and then there were occasional bouts of chain-smoking. I do hope yhour poem is a statement of actual attempt to stop...my mother really didn't stop until after her first heart attack; by then a spot of cancer had formed deep inside her lungs and from there it spread until her body was filled with that relentless demon. Apologies for carrying on but I do wish you luck in your attempt, my friend. Great post indeed!
